Responding to the question why some parishes observe different liturgical actions during the celebration of the Mass, the English Pastoral Ministry had conducted another seminar pertinent to this reality. The aim of the seminar was to educate interested Catholics in their faith appreciation. Fr. Edwin D. Corros, cs of the Catholic Tokyo International Center served as resource speaker. Though not trained as a liturgist, Fr. Edwin has claimed that the General Instructions on the Roman Missal (GIRM) must be the point of reference on the basic guidelines on the liturgical gestures and actions required in the celebration of the Eucharist. This book serves as the liturgical reference used by seminarians during their theological formation. “Every bishops` conference however due to the peculiarity of their socio-political and cultural situation at times is given the authority to adopt certain country. Such practices may contradict to the guide as directed by the GIRM. Moreover, depending on the theological and ministerial training of the priest, some liturgical actions observed in the parishes differ from what is provided by the GIRM,” he said.
